Below are the highlights of a recent and comprehensive review by Japanese scientists, Yasuo SUZUKI, Noriyuki MIYOSHI and Mamoru ISEMURA (in Proc. Jpn. Acad., Ser. B 88, 2012)

Interestingly, they initially state that in 1211, a Japanese Zen priest, Yeisai, published a book “Tea and Health Promotion” in which he mentions harvesting tea leaves, production, and pharmacological effects of Tea (Camellia sinensis). It looks like more evidence that Scientists are catching with the old ways!

Suzuki and his team have been studying Green Tea for a period of 20 years so they have some history themselves.
